From the information obtained at the Village Meeting on Tuesday 12th May, the Parish Council understands that Solarcentury are likely to make a formal planning application to Broadland District Council in the next four to six weeks. Whilst the Council and residents at the Village Meeting were able to question the Solarcentury representatives and Mr Harrold the landowner, the Parish Council is still keen to obtain feedback from as many other residents as possible about the proposed solar park on land adjoining the airfield.
At the meeting, Solarcentury explained that the siting of the panels in two separate areas was in order to mimimise visual impact. They also confirmed that the 10Mw capacity was the largest possible for the grid connection point, therefore it was unlikely that further development in the future would be possible. Details of the construction period, working hours and deliveries, wildflower planting, fencing and ongoing maintenance were explained. The possibility of setting up a community fund to provide financial assistance to local projects, if the development went ahead, was raised by a parishioner but not responded to in any detail by the developer.
Whilst some concerns were raised by the parishioners at the meeting and have been noted, the Parish Council would really welcome any other views from parishioners so that when the application is made, these can be taken into account. It is vital that the Parish Council is fully aware of the feelings of as many people as possible.
Please therefore if you have any comments, could you pass them to the clerk to the Parish Council, Jacinth Rogers at [email protected] , as soon as possible.
