We now have confirmed our phase two application, which is the material request for the money to do the repair work.
Our application finally was for a grant of £104, 200, which represents 76% of the project costs of £137,664 for phase 2.
The gap will be filled by reclaiming the VAT on the building work (which is done under the Listed Places of Worship Scheme) and our own fund raising, which to date is as follows:
Norfolk Churches Trust £5,000 (this is the charity that shares the money raised from the annual church bike ride)
Weston Foundation £5,000
Our Oulton Church Tower Fund has used some it’s resources in funding our phase 1 (lots of architect’s bills !), but has been replenished by the most fabulous kindness and hard work of you all, namely:
The door to door letter raised individual donations of in excess of £1,000 (and some people have very kindly signed up for regular giving which is hugely appreciated)
Hall Open Day £250
Chapel Craft Fair £375
Open gardens £800
Jazz in the yard & Art Exhibition & Yoga donations also £450
A part of the commitment we have to make to the HLF is that we will deliver, in addition to the walks display board, two further historical displays, which the Oulton History Society will take forward. Do join in these projects ! The first will record those that served in The Great War from Oulton (taking forward the names from the boards in the Chapel) and the second, as prefigured in emails before, will track the involvement of the village and the Airfield in the Second World War.
